Welcome to St. Simon's & St. Bartholomew's Church!
St. Simon’s Church first came into being as the Anglican Congregation of St. Martin in January 1961. The church resulted from the initiative of a group of sincere churchmen, mainly members of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Cartierville, who felt the need for a church within their own community. With the assistance of the Rev. A. M. Reid and the Ven. J.F. Morris, the first service was conducted by Rev. F.W. Motton in Martinvale School on February 5th, 1961. Early in 1962, Archbishop John Dixon gave the parish the patronal name of St. Simon and the congregation entered the planning phrase to build a church of their own. With the help of both the Diocese and local parishioners, land was purchased on du Souvenir road. The ground breaking took place on August 18th, 1963, the cornerstone was laid on November 10th, 1963, and St. Simon’s church celebrated its first service in its current building on January 26th, 1964.
